Lake Waccamaw Office
Lake Waccamaw is a natural wonder like no other. As the largest natural Carolina Bay lake it measures approximately 5 miles by 7 miles and is arguably the largest natural lake this side of the Mississippi River. The lake is home to many types of animal and plant life and is breathtakingly beautiful. The age of the lake has been estimated at approximately 250,000 years and explorers routinely find prehistoric shark's teeth as well as other fossils. A recent discovery of a prehistoric bone believed by scientists to be a whale rib only add to the beauty and mystery of this special place.
